We all have the same 24 hours

Have you ever said to yourself “I wish I had more time in a day?” That’s how I have been feeling a lot lately. I always complain that I have no time to do laundry or to go through the bills or to make those phone calls I have been dreading. To tell you the truth I DO have the time. I just don’t WANT to. I spent a good hour this morning reading other people’s blogs. Time I could have spent making those dreaded phone calls or doing laundry (that’s a novel idea).
Last night my husband went out to have a “guys night.” I always love those nights because I am free to veg in front of the TV without him criticizing my viewing or snacking choices. I was about to sit down to a re-run marathon of the real housewives when a stack of mail caught my eye. One letter in particular threatening that if I didn’t update my address with my bank account they would start charging me fees. I moved over a year and a half ago. I really should have taken care of this back then but…. excuses, excuses. I thought about putting it off until tomorrow but I knew I was risking further procrastination, so I did something else. I went online and updated my address and it only took me about 5 minutes!
After this minor victory I felt like tackling other tasks I had been procrastinating: putting away Cyrus’s cloth diapers (I’ve been using disposables lately because I have been to lazy to do this), starting another load of laundry (ok you get it I really hate laundry), and tidying up the kitchen. By the time I was done, I no longer craved my television “junk food.” I crawled into bed with a book.
My point is that we all have the same 24 hours. It is what you do in those 24 hours that make a difference. I tend to make excuses when I am not feeling 100%, which, thanks to Cyrus’s sleep (or should I say no sleep) habits, is most of the time. However, I underestimate the way these small accomplishments will make me feel and overestimate the amount of time they will take. Starting now I will try to stop procrastinating and start taking advantage of the time I have. I hope to inspire you to do the same 🙂
